Voyageurs National Park

Mundus Bishop worked closely with the staff of Voyageurs National Park to develop a historic resource report and GIS-based website to tell the story of the park’s development from the late 1800s to 1927. In 1927, a series of aerial photographs were taken, revealing logged areas, fishing camps, American Indian villages, dams, and homesteads. The cultural narrative explains these sites and the exploratory website allows park visitors to use the GIS map much like a Google Map to zoom in on historic sites and read narratives, see images, hear oral histories, and watch historic videos.
