Genesee Park
Genesee Park is Denver’s oldest and largest mountain park. Set
aside in 1912 west of the city, it is a favorite open space for residents of the
metropolitan area. Mundus Bishop’s design for new day-use areas and trailheads provide
visitor amenities, including adequate parking, picnic sites, restrooms and
shelters, in a manner that brings users into the forest landscape, improves
water quality, and is wonderfully integrated with the distinct character of the
park. New park trails are being connected to regional trails, embracing the
regional system of open space, and overlooks were created to view the bison
herd and greater landscape.
