Davis Hospice
Mundus Bishop’s design composition for the campus and extensive
gardens of this hospice is a serene atmosphere, where hospice patients and
staff have garden views from every window.
The campus is designed around two outdoor rooms full of rich plantings
of native and hardy species. The south garden offers a promenade, loop walk, central water
feature and stream, and small garden rooms. A water feature cascades over a granite weir
and into a series of soothing pools, and serves as a stormwater detention
basin, filtering water before it reaches the city system. The central garden is a terrace, with dense
plantings and sculptural water feature, all enclosed by a garden wall.
