Colorado Chautauqua - National Historic Park
The Chautauqua movement of the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries brought together adults for educational assemblies and recreational
retreats throughout rural America. Mundus Bishop’s master plan and
rehabilitation design for the campus provides guidance on site design, rehabilitation
of features, materials use, and the incorporation of sustainable technologies.
Rehabilitation design included repair and replacement of circulation routes and
plantings throughout the park, promoting Chautauqua Park as the “greenest
National Historic Landmark.” Mundus
Bishop continues to consult with the park on design needs. Chautauqua
Park won the Merit Award for Planning and Urban Design from ASLA Colorado in
2006; and the Preservation Award from Boulder Heritage Round Table in 2004.
