Burns Park

Burns Park contains a collection of large-scale architectonic sculpture, many from the 1968 Denver Sculpture Symposium. Mundus Bishop’s master for the redesign of Burns Park reestablishes this underutilized open space into a celebration of recreation and art, connecting the park to the regional path system and embracing ‘art as experience.’  The design integrates the established sculptures with a new park composition of integrated paths, topography, views, gathering places, activities, and play areas. New sculpture embraces the notion that art is a living thing that is changeable, and encourages visitors and neighborhood users to actively engage with the park’s elements.
