John Meade Park
Mundus Bishop’s design for the 7.5 acres of open space and park at John Meade Park will transform an underutilized city property and primary floodway into the community’s central gathering space and civic center. Two natural play areas will offer interactive experiences for children of all ages. A broad boardwalk will allow users to experience a restored wetland, and a trail system will provide routes for pedestrians and equestrians, and a bowl-shaped sloped amphitheater will serve for community gatherings. All park uses will be sensitively integrated with the reworking of the 100-year floodplain and floodway, creating a restored ecological system that will enhance user experience, and provide wildlife habitat and corridors.
